The Latteral Movement of Money

Working in the service industry has opened my eyes to an interesting and unsettling phenomena. The majority of people who tip are those who also work in the service industry (because they understand the importance of tipping). Which means that money does not trickle down. It only moves laterally. Which is probably why we are all poor.

  1. Well, I'm poor because I often bite off more than I can chew. (Insert "Jacob often eats a lot of food" joke here.) I used to be one of those evil people that never tipped. Now I am a good tipper. ^_^

  2. So true. The only thing that changes this is when a server gets a sweet, kick as job, and make the decision to still be good tippers because they know the drill. I'm just sayin' though... I think it should be mandatory for people who fly into states where minimum wage for servers is NOT the state minimum wage (i.e. Nashville 2.20hr). I think there should be a long lecture. "Yes, in California it is alright for you to tip a server 15 or even 10 percent if you need to make a point. But in the state of ___________ it really is customary for 20 percent to be the base because these people are struggling.
    THE END.
